    2024 BIRTHDAY BOURBON

    The nose offers all the classic Old Forester notes: a hint of acetone and banana, citrus peel, and deeply charred oak. There's a strong presence of Juicy Fruit Gum, along with unexpected layers like a chocolate-covered cream-filled donut, nougat and milk chocolate candy bar, nutmeg, and cocoa powder.


    2020 BIRTHDAY BOURBON 

    Old Forester will release the 20th iteration of its limited-edition, vintage-dated Birthday Bourbon on Wednesday, Sept. 2 in celebration of founder George Garvin Brown’s birthday. This year marks the 150th year of the company he began in 1870.

    The 2020 Birthday Bourbon will be bottled at 98 proof and is made up of 95 barrels, aged 10 years, and barreled on June 5, 2010. After showing exceptionally unique character during a tasting panel, the 10-year-old barrels were chosen specifically for this year’s Birthday Bourbon. The full allotment of the product represents one day’s production of Old Forester.

    2019 BIRTHDAY BOURBON

    The 2019 Birthday Bourbon is presented at 105 proof, the highest proof to-date for this special expression. After showing exceptionally unique character during a tasting panel, the 11-year-old barrels were chosen specifically for Birthday Bourbon.

    A total of 120 barrels distilled on May 15, 2008, and aged on the second floor of Warehouse I, Master Distiller Chris Morris and Master Taster Jackie Zykan selected and proofed this year’s limited edition. With a taste consisting of rich oak spice and blackcurrant coupled with light maple, caramel cake, and white floral notes, the 2019 Birthday Bourbon is a one-of-a-kind expression with a truly unique multidimensional profile.

    2018 BIRTHDAY BOURBON

    The 2018 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon was drawn from 12 year old barrels from different warehouses and floors. A total of 120 barrels; 93 barrels matured together on the 3rd floor, on the Northwest side of Warehouse J. The remaining 27 barrels matured together on the 3rd floor, on the Northwest side of Warehouse I.

    Barreled on June 9, 2006 – Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2018 is presented at 101 Proof. This is the first Birthday Bourbon vintage to be bottled at the new Old Forester Distilling Co. on Louisville’s Historic Whiskey Row.

    2017 BIRTHDAY BOURBON

    The 2017 Birthday Bourbon barrel selection was drawn from different warehouses and floors. 93 barrels matured together on the 4th floor of G warehouse, and were extremely spice forward. 27 barrels matured together on the 5th floor of K warehouse and contributed rounding sweetness to the blend.  Quite a few barrels basked in the sun from both of these lots, showcasing the effects of maturation along an external wall.

    2016 BIRTHDAY BOURBON

    The 2016 Birthday Bourbon barrel selection commemorates the 15th anniversary of the first-ever release. Unlike various previous selections, where barrels were drawn from different warehouses and/or floors and locations within a warehouse, the 2016 release has uniquely matured together on the same floor within the same warehouse.  This year, all of the bourbon matured in a very warm location, giving it a deep, rich oak forward personality.
