A legendary piece of bourbon history—distilled in 1974, aged 16 years, and bottled as the coveted Gold Foil edition.
The A.H. Hirsch 16 Year is widely regarded as one of the finest bourbons ever produced, and this Gold Foil edition represents the final chapter of an extraordinary story. Distilled in the spring of 1974 at the historic Michter's Distillery in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania—originally known as Bomberger's Distillery and one of the oldest distilling sites in America—this bourbon was part of a rare 400-barrel batch commissioned by Adolph Hirsch, a former Schenley Distillers executive with an uncompromising vision for quality. After 16 years of aging, the remaining barrels were transferred to Kentucky in 1989, where they continued to mature before being bottled by Buffalo Trace in 2003 as the prized Gold Foil release.
On the nose, rich sweetness greets you with creamy vanilla and buttery caramel, layered with refined oak spice. The palate is remarkably smooth and elegant, unfolding with soft notes of toffee and vanilla that showcase decades of patient maturation. The finish is dry and distinguished—hints of smoke, warm baking spices, and a subtle touch of black pepper linger beautifully.
