Tapatio Excelencía Gran Reserva is a very special extra añejo Tequila that was once reserved only for the friends and family of Don Felipe and Carlos Camarena. Aged for approximately four years in heavily charred new white American oak barrels, known as the 'alligator burn,' this process helps absorb impurities, resulting in a smoother and mellower tequila. Produced in tiny batches, Excelencía Gran Reserva is considered one of the world’s finest sipping spirits.

Tapatio Tequila stands out due to generations of expertise and deep family pride. It is the flagship brand of the renowned La Alteña Distillery, founded in Jalisco, Mexico, in 1937 by Don Felipe Camarena. Today, the Camarena family still owns Tapatio, with Don Felipe's grandson, Carlos, continuing the legacy as master distiller.

Tapatio is crafted through an artisanal process and is double distilled to nearly bottling strength, allowing the tequila to retain its natural character. The Camarena family's respect for tradition and meticulous attention to detail ensure that each tequila in the range expresses the authentic flavors of the agave plant.
