    Michter's highly coveted US*1 Single Barrel Rye Whiskey, which has garnered widespread acclaim, is now available in its original barrel proof.

    In the 18th century, John Shenk, a Swiss Mennonite farmer, settled in Pennsylvania's Blue Mountain Valley. Facing an abundance of grains, Shenk purchased a still and embarked on distilling surplus grains into whiskey, laying the foundation for Michter's, the United States' inaugural distillery.

    Prohibition in 1919 shuttered Michter's and numerous other distilleries. However, in the early 1990s, Joseph J. Magliocco and Richard Newman united to resurrect the brand, striving to craft top-tier whiskey reminiscent of Michter's origins.

    Michter's US*1 Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey is meticulously created from a mash predominantly comprised of plump rye grains. These grains are sheared to maximize flavor infusion during fermentation. Following fermentation, they undergo distillation in copper-pot stills and are aged in charred American oak barrels. Maturation in a heat-cycled warehouse allows the whiskey and wood to intermingle, imparting notes of marmalade and light caramel to the rye.

    Michter's President Joseph J. Magliocco expressed, "Whenever we would sample right out of the US1 Rye barrels, we loved the whiskey. We thought that our loyal US1 Single Barrel Rye customers would enjoy tasting some at barrel strength."

    Michter's Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey is the limited overproof iteration of Michter's US*1 Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey, with proof slightly varying by barrel but typically ranging between 108 and 110.8 proof.

    This whiskey boasts a robust aroma featuring butterscotch, golden raisins, and vanilla. Its palate delivers morning toast, maple syrup, and fresh fruit, with a spicy finish leaving hints of mint, cinnamon, and honey lingering on the palate.
